WTD Strip 01: New Sketchbook

Hey! HEY! Hey? It’s Wednesday, and I want to start doing weekly 3-panel comic strips.

I’m gonna try, but the beginning of October may be a little touch-and-go — I’m having neck fusion surgery on the 8th. So if I don’t die during surgery, I’m gonna shoot for a new Waiting to Die comic strip every Wednesday. Some of them will be re-done older strips that I can’t publish as-is ‘cause I got hella Exs. Ex-friends, Ex-art connections, Ex-wives, Ex-employers — and ain’t none of them bitches moved to Texas yet. That’s a song pun. Laugh. I said laugh, god damn it!

This first strip is something we can all relate to: you get a new calendar, sketchbook, whatever, and you have all these grand ideas about the marvelous things you’re gonna fill it with. You get new pens, pencils, little sticky notes to stack glorious ideas on top of glorious ideas. But then, three days later, you give up. The book goes on the shelf until seven years later, when you’re trying to make space on your bookshelf. You pull out the abandoned tome, crack it open, and find some terrible half-cooked ideas. You think, “Man, I should really give this another shot.” Then you slide the book back onto the shelf for your future children to dispose of 37 years later when you die.

“Every great idea starts in a new notebook. Every notebook ends up in the trash when you die.” -Noir <3
